I have received a new outlook on repentance this week though a Beth Moore Bible Study.
Have you (I) spinned a web of lies to attempt to cover a sin? - Yes, I have.
Why do we (I) do that!? Why don't we (I) just repent? - Beth suggests that it is a rejection of Grace.
Psalm 32:1 - Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.
The word Forgiven in Hebrew is nasa which means to lift up, to bear or carry off.
Psalm 32:4 - For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my strength was dried up as by the heat of summer.
Beth states that if we have unrepented sin His hand is heavy on us, but if we repent his hand flips (forgiven) and He carries all of our burdens. If we are hiding or covering sin in our lives God will not cover them. We need to own them and bring them into the light...uncovering it!
Psalm 32:5 - I acknowledged my sin to you, and I did not cover my iniquity; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the Lord," and you forgave the iniquity of my sin.
Lord,
In the midst of my sins help me to see and feel the heaviness of your hand. Remind me of Psalm 32 and help me to bring my sin out admitting the whole thing to you. You know it all Father, but you want me to own it. Thank you for forgiveness and grace.
Amen
